What this is
Pindrop is a local business discovery and lead enrichment engine built for developers and autonomous AI agents. Instead of running browser scrapers, assembling residential proxy pools, or managing messy spreadsheets, Pindrop provides structured endpoints and a standard Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that returns verified public business listings, website signals, and owner contact paths in real time.
Every query executes against live public business directories and search indexes, attaching normalized categories, Google ratings, review counts, phone numbers, and domain verification.
Get a key
Open the API settings
In Pindrop, navigate to Settings โ API Keys in the workspace navigation bar.
Generate a new key
Give your key an identifiable description (e.g., claude-agent or codex-local).
Store the key in your local environment
Keys follow the format pnd_live_[32_chars]. Copy it immediately upon generation.
Connect an app
Almost every modern AI tool and agent harness connects through either the Model Context Protocol or direct HTTP headers:
| TOOL | HOW IT CONNECTS |
|---|---|
| Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity | MCP connector โ paste server URL or execute single terminal command |
| Cursor, Cline, OpenCode | MCP stdio configuration via pnpx pindrop-mcp@latest |
| Hermes Agent, LangChain, Mastra | Native TypeScript client or REST tool invocation with Bearer auth |
| cURL, Python, Bash scripts | Direct REST endpoints at /api/places and /api/tavily |
What you can and can't do
Supported actions
- Query Google Places listings by business category and geo location
- Extract business phone, address, website, rating, and review count
- Perform live web research on lead domains via Tavily
- Resolve verified domain favicons via the lead-logo service
- Export structured CSV and JSON datasets ready for CRM intake
Unsupported actions
- Sending unsolicited email spam or circumventing CAN-SPAM regulations
- Scraping private personal contact records not listed on business domains
- Reselling raw un-enriched Google Places coordinates in bulk
MCP server
Most AI agents speak the Model Context Protocol. Instead of teaching them the API with a prompt, you point them at our MCP server once and they discover everything themselves โ what actions are available, what arguments each expects, and how results are structured.
| THING | VALUE |
|---|---|
| Server URL | https://pindrop.dev/api/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP or stdio command |
| Protocol versions | 2025-06-18 ยท 2025-03-26 ยท 2024-11-05 |
| Authentication | OAuth (recommended) or BYOK provider keys |
Two ways to connect
Streamable HTTP โ paste the server URL into your agent client. The agent automatically negotiates tools and schema in real time.
stdio CLI execution โ invoke the official package directly without installing global dependencies:
pnpx pindrop-mcp@latestClaude Code
Run this single command in your terminal inside your project directory to register Pindrop into your Claude Code session:
claude mcp add --transport http pindrop https://pindrop.dev/api/mcpOpenAI Codex
Add the server definition to your Codex configuration file (codex.config.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"pindrop": {
"command": "pnpx",
"args": ["pindrop-mcp@latest"]
}
}
}Cursor & Cline
In Cursor or Cline settings, add an stdio MCP server under your user settings:
{
"name": "pindrop",
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "pindrop-mcp@latest"]
}Google Antigravity
In your Antigravity MCP directory, reference the Pindrop runner:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pindrop": {
"command": "pnpx",
"args": ["pindrop-mcp@latest"],
"env": {
"PINDROP_API_KEY": "pnd_live_your_key_here"
}
}
}
}Terminal CLI
Execute searches directly from any terminal or bash shell:
npx pindrop-mcp search "plumbers" --location "Austin, TX" --limit 10/api/places
Query Google Places for local business entities matching a category and geographic region.
curl -X POST https://pindrop.dev/api/places \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"query": "plumbers in Austin, TX",
"location": "Austin, TX",
"limit": 10
}'/api/tavily
Enrich a lead website with deep web search signals, owner verification, and key context.
/api/lead-logo
Stream a verified high-resolution website favicon for any domain name with 4-tier fallback handling.
